CONSULTATION

All consultations are by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m to 11.00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m to 4:00 p.m.. A consultation lasts betweem 10 and 15 minutes, which is generally enough time to handle one medical problem or a few minor problems. If you mention that you need more time, the assistant can schedule for that. You will be asked the reason for your visit.

Additional consultations are made for urgent cases.

You are also requested to report your reason for a visit when making a appointment online.

We advise you to look at gpinfo.nl for most common complains before you schedule an appointment.


NO-SHOW POLICY

If you are unable to attend the scheduled appointment, we kindly ask you to cancel or modify it at least 24 hours in advance.

If you booked your appointment through your portal, you can make changes or cancel it directly on your portal.

In all other cases, please contact the practice by phone at 043 - 321 10 21.

If you fail to attend your appointment without prior notice, a fee of €15,- will be charged, payable at the practice. This fee is not reimbursed by your health insurance.

PROCEDURES

You can make an appointment by telephone with one of the GPs or an assistant for specific procedures.

  • Minor surgery: this includes all preventative minor surgical procedures under local anaesthesia, such as removal of birthmarks, clogged sebaceous glands, lipomas (fatty lumps) and warts
  • Phlebology (varicose vein examination and treatment)
  • Placement of an intrauterine device or Implanon
  • Complicated wound treatment
  • Bandaging

Assistent

  • Blood samples (before 12:00 p.m.)
  • Urinalysis
  • Blood pressure measurement

In consultation with the medical assistant and/or GP:

  • Spirometry (lung function examination)

  • 30 minutes measurement
  • Sleep examination
  • Heart Rhythm examination
  • Removal of sutures

PRACTICE NURSES

After your consultation with the GP, you can make an appointment to see one of the practice nurses:

Somatic care

There is a practice nurse at our practice for patients with diabetes, asthma/COPD, cardiovascular diseases and for people with increased risks to these disorders. The practice nurse will supervise, advise and monitor you. She will draw up a treatment plan in consultation with you and change your medication if necessary. The practice nurse for somatic care works under the supervision of the general practitioner.

Mental health care

People with psychological, psychosocial or psychiatric problems can make an appointment with the practice nurse for mental health care. After consulting the GP, you can register for an intake session and a short treatment (5 sessions). This care option belongs to general practice care and is fully reimbursed by Dutch health insurances. The practice nurse for mental health care works under the supervision of the general practitioner.

POSITIVE HEALTH

Poort van Gaveren General Practice collaborates with several other disciplines in primary and secondary health care. This collaboration is set up at the Practice based on the principles of Positive Health, which means that collective treatments and programmes are provided combining several disciplines.

After consulting the GP, you can make an appointment with Benoit Schyns (physiotherapy, manual therapy and sports physiotherapy). He carries out consultations and treatments at our practice. It is also possible to make an appointment to see the physiotherapist and the GP at the same time.

After consulting the GP or the practice nurse, you can make an appointment with Yolanda Turksema (dietetics and orthomolecular therapy). These consultations and treatments take place at our practice.

Psychosomatic Medicine and Mindfulness:
Suzanne Dear

Suzanne Dear runs a practice for psychosomatic physiotherapy, mindfulness training and coaching. The therapies are often used for people with burnout, chronic fatigue, chronic pain (functional somatic symptoms, FSS), mild depressive symptoms, anxiety or complex chronic physical complaints.

Homecare:
Buurtzorg

Buurtzorg (community care) is a home care organisation working with small teams of district nurses and orderlies that provide nursing and personal care at home. Buurtzorg will analyse your situation and decide in consultation with you and your family what you need and how this care can be provided. Buurtzorg community care is meant for people who are (seriously) ill, who need care after hospitalisation or who want to live independently.
